ADHD PATHWAY

Adult ADHD Assessment & Prescribing Clinic

We now offer a multidisciplinary ADHD assessment and treatment service for adults (18+) at Piritahi Hau Ora. Our aim is to provide thorough, supportive, and accessible care for people experiencing ADHD traits.

Referral to the ADHD Pathway

Duration: 15–20 minutes

Cost: Standard consultation fee

To begin, book an appointment with your GP or Nurse Practitioner at Waiheke Medical Centre or Piritahi Hau Ora.

During this appointment:

  • Your clinician will assess your suitability for the ADHD pathway
  • You will receive the required questionnaires and documentation to complete before your assessment

Additional Medical Checks (if required)

These may be requested by your clinician and are charged at standard clinic rates. They are typically completed by a Primary Care Assistant and may include an ECG if you:

  • Have a history of heart disease

  • Have a first-degree relative with sudden cardiac death

  • Are over 45 years of age

Stage 1: Comprehensive ADHD Assessment

Duration: 60 minutes

Cost: $600 (payment required in full prior to booking)

Once your referral is accepted, you will meet with our ADHD assessment clinician.

This appointment includes:

  • Review of your completed questionnaires
  • Support to complete any outstanding forms if needed
  • A detailed discussion of your medical and personal history

Please bring:

  • Any school reports (if available) — even older reports can provide helpful insights.

Stage 2: Diagnosis & Treatment Planning

Duration: 60 minutes

Cost: $600 (payment required in full prior to booking)

During this appointment:

  • Your clinician will discuss the outcome of your assessment
  • ADHD may or may not be diagnosed
  • If appropriate, a treatment plan will be developed

A further follow-up appointment may be arranged if needed.

You will also be offered a free session with our Health Coach, who can support you with:

  • Lifestyle strategies (diet, exercise, sleep)
  • Understanding ADHD
  • Making the most of your treatment plan

Important Information

  • ADHD assessments are not funded and must be paid in full before appointments are booked
  • Not all assessments result in an ADHD diagnosis or medication prescription
  • Additional appointments may be recommended and will incur standard fees
